The world of football is filled with extraordinary stories, but few are as inspiring as the tale of Frank Soo. Born in 1914 in Buxton, England, Soo was a pioneer in the sport, becoming the first Chinese player to represent England. Despite facing numerous obstacles, his legacy lives on through the Frank Soo Foundation, which aims to share his story and inspire future generations of footballers.

Frank Soo's journey in football began when he signed with Stoke City in 1933. During his time there, he made over 170 appearances and scored 9 goals. He went on to represent England in nine wartime internationals during World War II, though these appearances are not officially recognized. Soo also played for clubs like Leicester City and Luton Town before eventually retiring as a player.

Beyond his playing career, Frank Soo made significant contributions as a coach and manager. He worked with clubs across Europe, from Scandinavia to Italy and the Netherlands, helping shape the careers of many footballers. Despite facing challenges related to his ethnicity, Soo remained steadfast in his pursuit of success and opened doors for Chinese players in the sport.

The Frank Soo Foundation, founded by Alan Lau, is dedicated to preserving and sharing Soo's story. Lau, who has been involved in Chinese grassroots football for over a decade, was inspired by Soo's journey and saw an opportunity to empower others. The foundation focuses on organizing tournaments, supporting grassroots football, and addressing issues like racism and underrepresentation in the sport.
